This introductory two-hour class is for those of you who are interested in working with clay, but you don’t want to sign up for a longer workshop. You get a taster of what it is like to work with clay, making items using your hands (we do not teach wheelthrowing in this class).

We will teach you the basics of one of the hand building techniques, such as coiling, pinching, or slab-building. You will make and decorate 2 small pieces that will be fired and ready for you to pick up and show your family and friends within a few weeks.

This is a six week course (2.5 hours per week) for those of you who know you want to learn all there is about handbuliding with clay. In the first four weeks you will learn and practice each of the hand building techniques based on a particular project, and prepare the pieces for decoration and firing. In the last two weeks you will choose your decoration from a variety of techniques, and glaze them ready for the final firing.

You can take this course as many times as you like, you will use the techniques you learned in previous courses to build more complex pieces and work on your own projects.

In this beginner friendly, two-hour class you’ll learn to wedge, center, and throw clay with private tuition from our expert potters. You can take this class as many times as you like until you feel comfortable with your skills and ready to move onto open sessions where you can practice all you have learned.

This is a six week course (two hours per week) for those of you who have taken our Beginners Course, learned all the basic hand building techniques, and now want to work on your own advanced projects.

Expert tutors will be on hand to help your ideas come to fruition and advance your practice.

This course is 6 weeks (two hours per week) for those of you who have taken our Beginners 1-1 wheel throwing course. Having previously learned all the basic throwing and trimming techniques, you’ll now have time to explore and hone your skills, glazing and advanced techniques such as adding handles to cups will be shown to you.

If you have taken both our Beginner and Refresher Workshops, or you have been doing ceramics for while and don’t need instruction just a space to work, this is for you.

In this two-hour workshop we will teach you how to make decorations for your garden, vegetable plot, or even indoor plants. You will make them using a strong stoneware clay that will resist the outdoor weather, and we will teach you a variety of techniques to create beautiful pieces to enhance your outdoor space.

What You'll Do

In this two-hour workshop you will:

• Learn step-by-step techniques for rolling out your clay to the perfect thickness your decorations can withstand the spring/summer weather.

• Apply your own designs to the clay slabs using stamps, textiles, and natural objects. We have a lot to choose from but you can bring your own collection of textured fabrics, printing stamps, seed heads, robust leaves/flowers with good printing qualities.

• Choose from a variety of shape cutters, or create freehand designs, to make up to 6 garden decorations

• Knead any leftover clay, re-roll it and use it to create 3D decorations.

• Decorate your pieces with underglaze colours We will also give you some ideas for decorating them at home.

After the workshop

Your pieces will be left to air dry for a few days, then we will fire them in the kiln.

We will let you know when they are ready for you to collect, usually one to two weeks after your class.

Your decorations will off-white when fired. You can use some of the ideas we give you to decorate them at home.

In this two-hour workshop you will learn some easy ceramic decoration techniques using a variety of wooden stamps, vintage lace, and imprints from nature. Plus, you'll have access to a vast quantity of cutters to create stunning, delicate porcelain decorations for your tree or dining table and we will give you lots of other ideas for how to display them.

What You'll Do

In this workshop you will:

Apply your own designs to the clay slabs using stamps, textiles, and natural objects. We have a lot to choose from but you can bring your own collection of textured fabrics, printing stamps, seed heads, robust leaves/flowers with good printing qualities, such as rubber plants

Choose from a variety of shape cutters, or create freehand designs, to make up to 12 festive decorations for your tree.

Knead any leftover clay, re-roll it and use it to create smaller decorations.

Learn some easy techniques for decorating your pieces when you take them home.

After the workshop

Your pieces will be left to air dry for a few days, then we will fire them in the kiln.

We will let you know when they are ready for you to collect, usually one to two weeks after your class.

Your decorations will be white when fired. They are perfectly fine to hang as they are, or you can use some of the ideas we give you to decorate them at home.
